Oscar Nomination 2018, la full list e le nostre considerazioni
Ebbene, sono state diramate le nomination agli Oscar 2018, annunciate da Andy Serkis e da un’abbastanza impresentabile Tiffany Haddish, vista la sua goffaggine e la maldestra improvvisazione con cui ha faticato non poco a biascicare i nomi dei candidati… Era solo una sgradevole posa, come si suol dire, per far scena? Ne dubitiamo, dato l’imbarazzo generale.
Partiamo col dire che quasi tutto ha rispettato i pronostici dei giorni scorsi. D’altronde, da quando esiste la rete, le voci di corridoio si diffondono tanto in fretta in modo tale che le previsioni dell’ultima ora, spesso, rispecchiano la realtà, e bastava recarsi su siti come awardscircuit.com per farsi un’idea abbastanza precisa di quali sarebbero state le scelte dell’Academy. Insomma, tutto come da programma, rispettando i “favori” della vigilia. E candidature abbastanza impeccabili, a cui quest’anno si possono imputare poche dimenticanze. Ma, come sempre accade, ci son state anche le classiche, inaspettate sorprese, e in ciò, al di là del valore vero o presunto degli Oscar, consiste il fascino di una manifestazione che, nonostante tutto, conserva piuttosto intatto il suo sacrosanto diritto di esistere. Che piacciano o meno, gli Oscar sono una tradizione inderogabile e imprescindibile come il Natale.
Dicevamo… le sorprese. Nella lista dei migliori registi non è apparso il nome dell’invece quotatissimo, almeno dai bookmakers, Martin McDonagh col suo Tre manifesti a Ebbing, Missouri, pellicola che prevedibilmente, in quasi tutte le altre categorie, si aggiudica una pioggia di nomination. E spiace che il nostro Luca Guadagnino col suo Chiamami col tuo nome non sia entrato nella cinquina “sacra”. Ma comunque il suo bellissimo film riceve quattro candidature di assoluta e pregiata importanza. Ce la fa invece, zitto zitto, Paul Thomas Anderson. Assolutamente non dato fra i papabili praticamente da nessuno prima del sorprendente annuncio. Resta fuori Spielberg.
Per la categoria Miglior Attore, ecco allora che il pur bravissimo e meritevole James Franco di The Disaster Artist, premiato con un giusto Golden Globe, viene “rimpiazzato” dal solito Denzel Washington. Ma in questa decisione non poco a suo sfavore devono aver giocato le tristi “misconduct allegations” delle settimane passate. E sullo squallido moralismo della sciocca America puritana non voglio proferire altra parola. Assente anche Tom Hanks di The Post. E per la serie la speranza è l’ultima a morire ma alla fine muore, eh eh, non ce la fa neanche Jake Gyllenhaal di Stronger.
Nota di merito e di rilievo per Christopher Plummer che, alla veneranda età di ottantotto primavere, rimpiazzando all’ultimo momento Kevin Spacey, diviene, con la sua candidatura come miglior attore non protagonista per Tutti i soldi del mondo, l’attore più vecchio della storia del Cinema a ottenere una nomination. Il record era detenuto da Gloria Stuart per Titanic, anni 87. Plummer peraltro aveva già battuto un altro record di “anzianità”, potremmo dire. Perché fu l’attore più vecchio a vincere un Oscar per Beginners. All’epoca aveva 82 anni.
Per il resto, come detto, tutto preventivato, con l’inevitabile trionfo di The Shape of Water. Ben 13 nomination!
